Nourishing hope

As winter sets in, creating a cold backdrop for the cost of living stress impacting many families, the need for support and hope is greater than ever. Harris Farm Markets and Kids Giving Back have joined forces in NSW to make a real difference in the community, through hot meals that warm the belly and the heart.

This is not the first time Harris Farm Markets has supported Kids Giving Back, but it is the first time they’ve given online grocery shoppers the chance to join in. By adding the pay-it-forward option to their checkout, the family-owned supermarket has been able to amplify the amount they can donate to Kids Giving Back.

By generously matching every customer donation, they were able to pay-forward $6,000 worth of groceries to help Kids Giving Back provide even more meals to hungry locals.

To date Kids Giving Back have been given enough groceries to cook 2,000 hot, nutritious meals to those who need it most – providing a lifeline and a source of hope.

The impact of the groceries paid-forward goes beyond filling bellies. Through the Kids Giving Back initiative, hundreds of young volunteers have learned the joy of giving back. As part of their process they have young volunteers help to prepare the meals and provide uplifting messages to the recipients.

"In a world that often seems self-centred, these young volunteers are learning invaluable lessons of empathy and compassion," says Carole.

As Kids Giving Back continues to grow, with over 50 charity partners and countless volunteering opportunities, the impact of this partnership will continue to grow too.
