One of the great things about young people is their energy and zeal—they usually have lots of it! But some do not always get the chance to turn this energy into real skills and focus so that our rangatahi (youth) can be all that they can be in life.

This is where Zeal comes in. Zeal is a youth organisation here in Aotearoa that offers affordable and fun workshops and programmes for our young ones (13–18-year-olds) so they can find out what they’re good at and can follow their passions and skills in life. Think photography, dance and film but also event management and graphic design. What about a barista course? Zeal offers these and more at five locations throughout Aotearoa. And all the staff at Zeal are dedicated to helping these young ones pursue their talents and dreams.

But Zeal always needs help from the community to run their programmes, and People’s Coffee is one business that heeded the call and paid-it-forward a $100 voucher for—you guessed it!—coffee and coffee-associated products. Now that would be great for those doing the Barista course at Zeal!

People’s Coffee is based in Wellington, but they also have an online store. They sell a variety of coffees, depending on your taste, but they also offer T-shirts and mugs … and gift cards for your special someone so they can choose their own coffee product. One of the best parts about People’s coffee is that it is organic (no artificial fertilisers) and is fair trade, meaning they care about the people who actually grow the coffee so that they get a good deal too. It really is coffee for the people by the people—at People’s Coffee!

When you next need to replenish your coffee supplies, think People’s Coffee, and add a little to your bill—even just a few dollars can help—so that the pay-it-forwards can continue.
